The eQHealth Solutions Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center provides technical assistance to Mississippi health care providers who are ready to adopt electronic health records system and use them in a manner that meets federal “meaningful use” requirements.
The federal HITECH Act authorized the Health Information Technology Extension Program that funds Mississippi Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center, as well as the national Health Information Technology Research Center (HITRC).
The regional extension center offer technical assistance, guidance and information on best practices to support and accelerate health care providers’ efforts to become meaningful users of Electronic Health Records (EHRs).
The Mississippi Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center is one of about 70 such centers throughout the country, each serving a defined geographic area. In Mississippi, this center will support 1,200 primary care providers and almost 50 rural hospitals in achieving meaningful use of EHRs and enabling nationwide health information exchange.
